Aline Bouvy, née en 1974 à Watermael-Boitsfort (Belgique), vit et travaille entre Liège et le Luxembourg. Après avoir étudié les arts visuels à l’ERG (École de Recherche Graphique) à Bruxelles entre 1995 et 1999, elle a poursuivi sa formation à la Jan van Eyck Academie à Maastricht (Pays-Bas). Depuis 2013, elle mène une pratique artistique personnelle après de nombreuses collaborations. Son travail est représenté par la galerie Nosbaum & Reding à Luxembourg et la galerie Albert Baronian à Bruxelles.

La démarche artistique multidisciplinaire d’Aline Bouvy repose sur un refus assumé des compromis et des cadres normatifs imposés par notre société. À travers une esthétique rigoureuse teintée d’un humour engagé, elle questionne les hiérarchies de pouvoir et les structures patriarcales, explorant ce qui est perçu comme marginal ou hors norme. Son approche intègre des stratégies poétiques et des narrations souvent liées au contexte des lieux où elle expose, interrogeant ainsi le rôle et l’engagement de l’artiste.

Aline Bouvy a exposé dans de nombreuses galeries et institutions renommées, notamment la galerie Exo Exo à Paris (2015), la galerie Motel à Brooklyn (2016), et la galerie Albert Baronian à Bruxelles (2018). En 2022, le MAC’s – Musée des Arts Contemporains à Hornu (Belgique) – lui a consacré une exposition personnelle intitulée Cruising Bye.

Aline Bouvy, born in 1974 in Watermael-Boitsfort (Belgium), lives and works between Liège and Luxembourg. After studying visual arts at ERG (École de Recherche Graphique) in Brussels from 1995 to 1999, she furthered her education at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht (Netherlands). Since 2013, she has pursued a solo artistic practice following numerous collaborative projects. Her work is represented by Nosbaum & Reding Gallery in Luxembourg and Albert Baronian Gallery in Brussels.

Aline Bouvy’s multidisciplinary artistic approach is rooted in a deliberate rejection of compromises and normative frameworks imposed by society. Through a rigorous aesthetic infused with engaged humor, she challenges power hierarchies and patriarchal structures, delving into what is perceived as marginal or unconventional. Her practice incorporates poetic strategies and narratives often tied to the specific context of the venues where her work is exhibited, simultaneously questioning the role and commitment of the artist.

Aline Bouvy has exhibited her work in numerous prestigious galleries and institutions, including Exo Exo in Paris in 2015, Motel in Brooklyn in 2016, and Albert Baronian in Brussels in 2018. In 2021, she presented As Sirens Rise and Fall at Kunsthal Gent in Ghent. In 2022, the MAC’s – Museum of Contemporary Arts in Hornu, Belgium, dedicated a solo exhibition to her titled Cruising Bye. In 2024, her work was showcased at Someday Gallery with Servant, Clown or Enemy, as well as at Triangle-Astérides in Marseille with Le Prix du Ticket.
