Né en 1985 en France, Charles Hascoët est un artiste qui partage sa vie et son travail entre New York et Paris. Diplômé de l’École des Beaux-Arts de Paris en 2014, il a perfectionné son art sous l’influence de professeurs tels que J. Rielly et J. Michel Alberola, approfondissant ainsi sa pratique de prédilection : la peinture.

S'inspirant des tropes de l’histoire de l’art, des films cultes et de souvenirs d’enfance, Hascoët compose des œuvres nostalgiques oscillant entre réalité et imaginaire. Il mêle des symboles contrastés pour créer des natures mortes domestiques, des portraits empreints de romantisme et des paysages oniriques, construisant ainsi des récits empreints de fantaisie. Ses tableaux rendent hommage aux figures allongées des grands maîtres français tels que Gustave Courbet et Eugène Delacroix, tout en ajoutant une dimension autobiographique où l’artiste se met en scène dans des univers singuliers. En mariant l’iconographie historique à des éléments personnels, Hascoët invite le spectateur à partager son cheminement introspectif, explorant à la fois son identité et des récits collectifs.

Parmi ses récentes expositions personnelles figurent : Light of Winter à Perrotin, New York et Moral Test à Dumonteil, Shanghai. Light of Winter à Perrotin, New York en 2024, Portrait à Art Genève avec la Galerie Mighela Shama, et It’s Dangerous to Go Alone à Gennevilliers, France en 2023.

Il a également pris part à des expositions collectives marquantes, telles que Immortal au Mo.Co à Montpellier et Regarde-moi chez Perrotin à Paris en 2022.

Born in 1985 in France, Charles Hascoët is an artist who lives and works between New York and Paris. A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2014, he refined his craft under the guidance of professors such as J. Rielly and J. Michel Alberola, deepening his preferred practice: painting.

Drawing inspiration from art history tropes, cult films, and childhood memories, Hascoët creates nostalgic works that oscillate between reality and imagination. He blends contrasting symbols to compose domestic still lifes, romanticized portraits, and dreamlike landscapes, constructing narratives infused with fantasy. His paintings pay tribute to the reclining figures of French masters such as Gustave Courbet and Eugène Delacroix while incorporating an autobiographical dimension, staging himself in singular universes. By merging historical iconography with personal elements, Hascoët invites the viewer to share in his introspective journey, exploring both identity and collective narratives.

His recent solo exhibitions include Light of Winter at Perrotin, New York, and Moral Test at Dumonteil, Shanghai. In 2024, he presented Light of Winter at Perrotin, New York, Portrait at Art Genève with Galerie Mighela Shama, and It’s Dangerous to Go Alone in Gennevilliers, France in 2023.
