Artiste française née en 1981, Elvire Bonduelle est diplômée de l’École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris en 2005 puis de l’École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris en 2007. Principalement basée à Paris, elle travaille et expose en France et à l’Étranger. Elle réalise des œuvres à travers lesquelles se déclinent des questions relatives au confort, au conformisme et à la norme, à la liberté des usages et des attitudes dans l’espace domestique. Ses œuvres aux supports et échelles variés, prennent des formes allant de l’objet à l’architecture : dessins, coussins, lampes, torchons côtoient fauteuils, fresques, bibliothèques et balcons dans une œuvre brouillant joyeusement les limites entre Beaux-arts et arts décoratifs.

Elvire Bonduelle aime les jolies choses, les belles formes. Les slogans plutôt que les longs discours. La simplicité. En s’attachant à créer et à détourner les objets du quotidien, son travail interroge la poursuite du bonheur et s’en amuse. Coussins, lampes, canapés, maisons... Que cache notre aspiration au confort? Quel est le sens des mantras qu’on se répète chaque matin?  Le bois et ses veines, la toile écrue, le métal cintré offrent autant de champs pour un dialogue entre le support et le motif. À travers des formes récurrentes et leurs variations l’artiste poursuit sa quête. Une recherche du geste pur comme œuvre totale.

Born in 1981, Elvire Bonduelle is a French artist who graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris fine arts school in 2005 and then earned a post-graduate degree from the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs decorative arts school. Although primarily based in Paris, she works and exhibits across France and internationally. She creates art that examines questions related to comfort, conformity, and norms while also exploring the liberty of attitudes and applications within the domestic sphere. Her works, which are made with varied mediums and have different scales, range from objects to architectural forms: drawings, cushions, lamps, and tea towels have their place alongside armchairs, frescoes, libraries, and balconies for an oeuvre that joyfully blurs the boundaries between the fine arts and the decorative arts.

Elvire Bonduelle loves pretty things and beautiful shapes. Poignant phrases instead of long speeches. Simplicity. By creating and transforming everyday objects, her work both questions and pokes fun at the pursuit of happiness. Post, vases, sofas, houses... What lies behind our desire for comfort? What is the meaning of the mantras we repeat to ourselves every morning? Wood and its different grains, unbleached canvas, and bent metal offer the scope to foster a dialogue between medium and pattern. The artist pursues her creative quest through recurring forms and their variations. A search for the pure artistic gesture as a total work of art.
