Après cinq années de collaboration et d’expositions à travers le monde (Paris, New York, Shanghai, Miami...), Double V est heureuse de présenter le premier solo show de B.D. Graft à Marseille, intitulé Inner Worlds [Mondes Intérieurs]. Un projet « à la maison », où le foyer et le voyage imaginaire sont au coeur d’une nouvelle série de peintures, de céramiques et d’une installation sous forme de cabinet de curiosité.

Né en 1988 à Cologne (ALL), B.D. Graft vit et travaille à Amsterdam (NL). Après avoir obtenu un bachelor en cinéma puis un master en littérature anglaise à l’université d’Amsterdam, Brian se distingue grâce à ses talents de dessinateur ludique, en développant un style uni versellement reconnaissable.

À travers ses compositions au pastel à l’huile, ses peintures, et ses sculptures en céramique, l’artiste parvient à susciter la joie et l’innocence associées aux dessins de notre enfance. Derrière leur apparente simplicité, ses œuvres renferment une réflexion sur la préservation de la nature, l’environnement, ainsi que sur ses propres émotions et ses préoccupations liées à la condition humaine. La nature morte, la scène d’intérieur, le monde végétal et animal sont des thèmes récurrents de son travail, où il s’agit finalement de célébrer la vie sous toutes ses formes.

Avec des expositions à Paris, New-York, Miami, Séoul, Shanghai, ou en- core Berlin, B.D. Graft voit sa reconnaissance s’étendre à l’internationale et intègre des collections reconnues, telles que la collection Niarchos, la collection Rania de Jordanie, la collection Sarah Andelman, ou encore celle de l’Iris Art Realm Museum en Chine.

After five years of collaboration and exhibitions around the world (Paris, New York, Shanghai, Miami...), Double V is delighted to present the first solo show by B.D. Graft in Marseille, tit- led Inner Worlds. A project ‘‘at home’’, where the concept of interiors and imaginary journey takes center stage in a new series of paintings, ceramics, and an installation in the form of a curiosity cabinet.

Born in Cologne, Germany in 1988, Brian de Graft currently lives and works in Amsterdam (NL). After completing a bachelor degree in film studies and a masters’ degree in English literature at the University of Amsterdam, Brian devoted himself to art and quickly distinguished himself with his playful drawings that evoke universally recognizable worlds.

Through compositions in oil pastels and paint as well as ceramic sculptures, he captures the innocence and joy associated with the drawings of our childhood. Yet beneath its apparent simplicity, the artwork serves as a reflection on the preservation of nature and the environment while conveying the artist’s own emotions and preoccupations with the human condition. Still lifes, interior scenes, and the plant and animal world are recurring themes in his work, which ultimately seeks to celebrate life in all its forms.

B.D. Graft is quickly developing an international reputation. He has had exhibitions in Paris, New York, Miami, Seoul, Shanghai, and Berlin while his work is held in esteemed international collections such as the Niarchos Collection, the Queen Rania of Jordan Collection and the Sarah Andelman Collection. His work is also held by the Iris Art Realm museum in China.
