On this occasion, the gallery will have the pleasure of presenting the work of the American artist Pace Taylor and Tamar Hirschfeld for the first time.

Pace Taylor est né.e en 1992 à Portland (USA), où iel reside.

Émotionnellement préoccupé.e par la notion d'intimité et par les personnes avec lesquelles nous choisissons de la partager, son oeuvre est souvent discrete,  profondément queer, et vulnérable. Ses portraits stylisés, réalisés au pastel et au crayon dans ses nuances caractéristiques de couleurs chaudes, d'orange, de rose et de rouge, dépeignent des moments de partage et de fragilité. L’artiste nous invite à réfléchir sur l’authenticité, l’identité et les relations humaines.

Diplomé.e en Arts de l’Université d’Oregon, iel a été en résidence à Centrum et au Golden Spot de Caldera Arts (USA). Cette année, iel participera à la Don Bachardy residency, à la Royal Drawing School de Londres.

Pace Taylor was born in 1992 in Portland (USA), where they currently reside.

Emotionally concerned with the concept of intimacy and the individuals with whom we choose to share it, their work is often discreet, profoundly queer, and vulnerable. Their stylized portraits, created in pastel and pencil with their characteristic warm color tones of orange, pink, and red, depict moments of sharing and fragility. The artist invites us to contemplate authenticity, identity, and human relationships.

Graduated in Arts from the University of Oregon, they have been in residence at Centrum and Caldera Arts' Golden Spot (USA). This year, they will be participating in the Don Bachardy residency at the Royal Drawing School in London.

Tamar Hirschfeld est née en Israël en 1984. Elle a effectué une partie de ses études en France, notamment à la Villa Arson et au Fresnoy-Studio national des arts contemporains. En 2019, le Tel Aviv Museum of Art lui a consacré une exposition monographique importante intitulée « Neuland ». Elle vit aujourd’hui entre Bruxelles et Tel Aviv.

Ayant grandi à Jérusalem, une ville marquée par une grande diversité de conflits religieux et idéologiques, Tamar Hirschfeld a toujours ressenti que puissantes forces anonymes, appuyées par des processus historiques et mystiques, influençaient les modes de vie et les visions du monde.

Depuis 2020, l’artiste a effectué une résidence de recherche au Centre international de recherche sur le verre et les arts plastiques (Cirva) à Marseille. Les premiers objets qu’elle y a crées sont étroitement liés à l’environnement immédiat de l’atelier et à la vie quotidienne en France et en Provence.

Tamar Hirschfeld les associe inévitablement à la cuisine : des croissants, des aubergines, un kebab, une tomate… C’est avec un sens de l’humour et un détachement caractéristiques de son travail , que l’artiste présente la réalité la plus banale sous un jour nouveau, à la fois pop, étrange et troublant.

Tamar Hirschfeld was born in Israel in 1984. She pursued part of her studies in France, particularly at the Villa Arson and the Fresnoy-Studio National des Arts Contemporains. In 2019, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art dedicated a significant solo exhibition to her, titled "Neuland." She currently resides between Brussels and Tel Aviv.

Growing up in Jerusalem, a city marked by a great diversity of religious and ideological conflicts, Tamar Hirschfeld has always felt that powerful anonymous forces, supported by historical and mystical processes, influenced lifestyles and worldviews.

Since 2020, the artist has undertaken a research residency at the International Center for Research on Glass and Visual Arts (Cirva) in Marseille. The initial objects she created there are closely tied to the immediate workshop environment and daily life in France and Provence.

Tamar Hirschfeld inevitably associates them with cuisine: croissants, eggplants, kebabs, tomatoes, and more. With a characteristic sense of humor and detachment in her work, the artist presents the most ordinary reality in a new light, simultaneously pop, strange, and unsettling.
