Peter Simpson (né en 1989) est un artiste et écrivain anglais originaire de Liverpool. Il a étudié au Wimbledon College of Art à Londres et vit et travaille actuellement à Bruxelles. Sa pratique se concentre principalement sur la peinture et la sculpture narratives, à travers lesquelles il explore des thématiques liées au travail, à la classe sociale, au doute de soi et à la superstition. Ces investigations, souvent étirées et transformées au fil du processus de création, finissent par devenir des chapitres autonomes d’une histoire plus vaste.

Simpson a participé à des résidences à Londres, Madrid et Bruxelles. Il expose avec Ballon Rouge depuis 2020, notamment lors d’expositions personnelles en 2022 et 2024 (Art Brussels), ainsi que dans plusieurs expositions collectives. En 2022, il a présenté sa première exposition personnelle à Marseille, a exposé à MIART à Milan avec Nino Mier Gallery en 2023, et a montré son travail en Italie, en Espagne, en France, en Belgique et au Royaume-Uni.

Les œuvres de Simpson font partie de nombreuses collections publiques et privées en Australie et à l’international, notamment celles d’Artbank, du Lincoln Institute, d’Australia Post, de la ville de Monash, de l’Australian Club à Melbourne et de BHP. L’artiste a largement exposé en Australie et a reçu plusieurs distinctions, dont le People’s Selection, Best Painting au Cowra Regional Art Gallery en 2008. Il a également été sélectionné comme artiste en résidence à l'Arthur Boyd Studio, Bundanon.

Peter Simpson (b. 1989) is an English artist and writer from Liverpool who studied at Wimbledon College of Art, London and currently lives and works in Brussels. His practice is mostly focused on narrative painting and sculpture, where-in he explores subjects of labour, class, self doubt and superstition. The origins of these investigations are often stretched and manipulated through the process of making until they become self contained chapters of a larger story.

Simpson has participated in residencies in London, Madrid, and Brussels. His work has been exhibited with Ballon Rouge since 2020, including solo exhibitions in 2022 and 2024 (Art Brussels) and several group shows. He had his first solo exhibition in Marseille in 2022, exhibited at MIART in Milan with Nino Mier Gallery in 2023, and has shown work previously in Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, and the UK.

Simpson’s work is held in numerous public and private collections in Australia and abroad including Artbank, Lincoln Institute, Australia Post, City of Monash, Australian Club, Melbourne and BHP. The artist has exhibited widely throughout Australia, and has won several awards including People’s Selection, Best Painting at Cowra Regional Art Gallery (2008) as well as being selected as the Artist in Residence at the Arthur Boyd Studio, Bundanon.
